Henry Frederick Lucas-Lucas (c.1848-1943) was born in Louth in Lincolnshire. In 1878 he moved to Rugby where he worked throughout his life, painting hunting scenes (especially of the Pytchley), racehorses, hunters, hounds and polo ponies. Earl Beatty was one of his main patrons. Several of his works were published as prints, with the best known one being 'Putting in the terriers', 1894. He normally signed both the front and reverse of his work.
