Private collection, Wiltshire, by descentCircle of John Ferneley (1782-1860 Leicestershire), a bay hunter in loose box, with the initials ‘G.B.’ on the horse blanket to the right and the title 'Kitty Stumps 1852' on the frame.
John E. Ferneley (Thrussington 1782-1860 Melton Mowbray) was an English painter who specialised in equestrian painting and sporting scenes. He is regarded as one of the great British equine artists. His work was exhibited at London's Royal Academy between 1806-1853.
